Home Saint Jean is located on a hilltop a 10-minute walk, or a 500 RwF moto-ride, from central Kibuye. 270 degree views of Lake Kivu. It is lakeside, but takes a couple minutes steep walking to reach the water. No beach however. Great staff, very friendly and helpful; they lended us towels for sunbathing by the lake, stored our luggage, called taxis and even went to the center to buy our bustickets! Rooms come in may different shapes, we shared a triple for 15,000 RwF in total, with bathroom, mosq nets, towels and sheets. Simply furnished and quite small but totally acceptable. Really nice view of the lake. The hostel offers boatrides to the islands at Lake Kivu.
ACTIVITIES
Here is how you can enjoy your wonderful stay at Home Saint Jean (Our excellent Place):
Boat ride: it is the cheapest way for visiting different Islands and there are different things that you can do from there like: swimming;
Hiking on Napoleon Islands and walking. Kayaking: it is interesting and the only way to explore the kivu lake.
Swimming: swimming in Kivu Lake is safe and it is free of dangerous animals
Walking: walk alongside the lake up to the power plant of Methane Gas In additional to these, you can visit different areas: Environmental Museum, Peace, Mpembe and Napoleon Islands, Genocide memorial sites, Gisovu tea plantation, Source of Nile, Nyungwe National Park.
Home Saint Jean offers delicious meals for indivual, group of people, seminar groups (workshops). Enjoy our delicious international; local food and different beverages as Fresh juice from fresh local fruits and they are prepared by experienced cooks. They are served by well trained and qualified waiters or waitresses at our amazing terrace “view”.
